These three images, from Venice, Italy, were initially taken because I like dogs...a lot! So, I asked if I could take the dog photo and then the man turned toward me and smiled and I had to take the shot. It was a classic moment for me. Then, after I looked at the dog shot, I thought it would look really good in black and white so I tried it that way, too. Which shot is better, whatever that may mean, I don't know; however, I do like all three shots for very different reasons. I hope you like them, too. Venice has completely gone to the dogs...in a good way! I saw so many old dogs still gamely trying to take their walk with their owners as well as young pups like this one, the new generation coming up behind. This pup looked so serious and did not move even a tiny bit, the perfect little model. I saw no stray dogs nor did I see any dogs that looked ill-treated; in fact, it looked like many people had brought their dogs along on vacation and the dogs were allowed on the public transportation, the Vaporetto, a boat-bus that transports people around the canal system.
