For some reason I end up photographing a lot of birds. I'm not complaining. I like to photograph birds because I find it a challenge. I live in California so I can get to the beach every so often and there are, of course, birds at the beach. This photograph was taken at Carmel State Beach near a place where the Carmel River runs into the ocean. It was November so it was a nice quite day at the beach with a few birds here and there. This brown pelican was flying overhead and the group seemed intent on doing some kind of damage to a flock of seagulls, I can only assume that the seagulls had nests and felt threatened when the pelicans flew over because all of the seagulls would then take off and fly around. I really have no way of knowing what was going on but I found it of interest. I love the pelican shots as the birds look somewhat unreal to me.
